We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.
“I can’t say I really ‘work out,’ but I’m in good shape and am relatively active.”
“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”
Sicily has extended a welcoming hand to visitors throughout the ages. It is a cultural crossroads where Greeks and Romans, Phoenicians and Arabs, French and Spanish civilizations have all left their mark over the centuries—artistically, architecturally and gastronomically. Our journey focuses on the southern side of the island, visiting the Baroque towns of Siracusa, Noto and Modica. During our explorations, we’ll be rewarded with an exclusive gourmet experience and immersion in local gastronomy. Experience pure indulgence for the senses: admire the island’s rich culture, savour fresh seafood, handmade pasta, arancini, caponata and plan to wash it all down with some delightful Sicilian wines.

Day by Day
Upon your arrival in Siracusa, the original Syracuse, meet up with your B&R guides for an aperitivo and a chance to meet your fellow travellers and learn about the upcoming week’s adventures.
After breakfast steps from the sea, enjoy a private guided tour of Siracusa. Lunch involves a hands-on Sicilian sandwich demonstration at Borderi, a salumiere in the old market. This afternoon you'll be introduced to the famous Noto Almond! Tonight we dine in a typical local trattoria on Ortigia.
Spend the morning relaxing or explore the Iblei mountains and all their hidden treasures. This afternoon enjoy a walking tour of the charming town of Noto before heading to the Planeta family's Buonivini wine estate. Stroll through the renowned vineyards, visit its "Invisible Wine Cellar" and take part in a memorable wine tasting.
Journey deep into the stunning Mòdica area and go hunting for Sicilian truffles with one of the area's best cavatori (truffle hunters). After, enjoy a marvelous lunch, featuring truffles of course! Later, soak in the beautiful Baroque architecture on a walking tour of town and visit Simone's Chocolate Lab for an exclusive talk and tasting.
Visit a working farm near Scicli and see how hot, fresh ricotta is made. Lunch is a special gastronomic experience at the unforgettable Gli Aromi. Explore the farm and discover all the raw materials before participating in a hands-on cooking class which will inevitably lead to a scrumptious lunch.
Visit Catania's historic fish market where you'll pick the freshest fish for today's hands-on cooking lesson. This afternoon learn about the hotel's very own olive oil and meet with a Sicilian honey producer for a tasting! Tonight we dine al fresco on the terrace gazing up at Mount Etna.
After breakfast, you'll be driven to Catania’s Fontanarossa airport for mid-day flights. Arrivederci!
Algila Ortigia Charme Hotel, Siracusa
Located in the center of the UNESCO protected town of Siracusa, Algilà Ortigia has charming written all over it. From the antique furniture, the canopied beds, the local handicrafts and the precious fabrics, this former palace is the place to stay in Siracusa. The refined historic building that houses the hotel is the result of a fusion of two buildings with recent restoration. View hotel website »
Palazzo Failla, Mòdica
The Failla Mansion offers guests an unforgettable time in a place where the old traditions fit in well with modern comforts. Over the years, the hotel has maintained the characteristics of a noble Sicilian building with items such as majolicas (local hand-made ceramics), wrought iron, frescoed vaults and antique furniture. With only 10 rooms, its intimate scale and exquisitely attuned staff make guests feel pampered and at ease. View hotel website »
Donna Carmela, Carruba di Riposto
Nestled in a large plant nursery between the sea and the foot of Mount Etna, between Catania and Taormina, Donna Carmela is an elegant resort. Generous hospitality, creative décor and quality materials make the 18-room boutique hotel come alive. Its imminently tasteful contemporary aesthetic with many elegant touches (fresh roses here, bold art there, beautiful breezy views throughout) make it a one-of-a-kind experience in Sicilian hospitality. This was our 6th B&R trip. We love the experience of biking around Europe and seeing the world from that perspective. We have always had great experiences, met wonderful new friends and thoroughly enjoy the travel with you. Keep up the great work!— Cynthia White, Sicily Biking
Of course, all the calorie-busting cycling gave us the perfect excuse to gorge on Sicily’s gastronomic delights—after all, this is the one place on earth where it’s acceptable to consume gelato in a freshly baked brioche for breakfast.London Evening Standard
We never wanted to be the biggest travel company in the world, just the best.
